After the free-to-play multiplayer part of Halo: Infinite was released on November 15, 2021, it initially looked like developer 343 Industries had delivered a surprise hit.
The number of players shot up, at times almost 300,000 players jumped into the fray via Steam alone. Above all, disappointed Battlefield 2042 players were looking for an alternative here. In our test, however, we already found that there were already crunches in many places in the fun gear:

Multiplayer is too good to die young
progress and long-term motivation were the problem areas back then, and little has changed to this day. The hype wave has long since died down, which is also the case in the Steam numbers knocks down.
The ongoing lack of new content is making fans more and more angry, which has now become the undoing of a developer from 343 Industries on Reddit.
Statements meet with incomprehension
The bone of contention was a Twitter post from Halo Community Director Brian Jarrard, who on Reddit was shared in the fan community. Under this post, a 343 developer also posted with the pseudonym ske7ch343
who probably meant well, but was wrong with his choice of words.
There is indeed numerous challenges and limitations
and be not happy about not being able to meet community expectations
. The focus is currently on Season 2 and there will be more news to report in the coming weeks.

Halo: Infinite’s single-player campaign also had some up its sleeve for series fans. Above all, the open world stands out – and is also the great weakness of the shooter:

So far, so no problems. But then he comments on the background of the content that is only slowly emerging on the horizon, thereby igniting an inferno of ridicule and malice:
In the meantime find behind the scenes a lot of production planning, calculation, planning and personnel recruitment
taking place, which is why it is not yet possible to publish regular updates. The team understand that the fans are running out of patience, but just need a little more time.
That was the damage done. The comment was not only punished with numerous downvotes, but also answered diligently. Many users don’t understand why the studio is still busy with fundamental things like staffing and planning five months after the release.
After all, the game has been in development for many years and content is usually planned months or even years in advance. the user MustacheEmperor can’t resist a bit of ridicule and at the same time sums up the basic tenor of the thread pretty well:
If only anyone had known prior to release that the player base would expect content and patches, and that creating content and patching netcode would require hired engineers.
Bleak future for the shooter?
So the current mood in the community doesn’t seem to be the best at the moment. In the past few months there has been some new content that was actually a lot of fun – at least Dimi, who even pushed his favorite shooter off the edge of the bed at times:

Halo Infinite even lured Dimi away from Hunt: Showdown
The coming months should therefore be exciting and at the same time groundbreaking for the long-term success of Halo: Infinite. After all, 343 Industries has already put a hand on the initially much-criticized Battle Pass after a short time and promised improvements.
