Almost two years after the disastrous release, a member of the Cyberpunk 2077 team speaks out. Both about this complicated time, and about the triumphant return of the game.
It was hard to believe, but Cyberpunk 2077 did it! The shipwreck of the beginnings swept away for a present and a brighter future with a game that takes on colors again.
An emotional developer reflects on the Cyberpunk 2077 fiasco
Paweł Sasko, Head of Quests for Cyberpunk 2077, recently held a live twitch where he didn’t hide his emotions to see the game go up the slope. He admits he was completely lost, not knowing what to say or how to react to the situation. A case that, in his words, totally destroyed him. It was also a difficult time for his family.
I sat there and listened to the questions and thought to myself: “What can I say?”. It’s hard to put into words when you put so much heart and work into something. And you know, for some of us it’s sometimes six, seven, eight years, especially for those who are just starting out. To witness that moment where people like what we’ve done is really a little bit unreal
. That people like it in the end. After the game was released I couldn’t believe it. After a while I believed it, but at first I couldn’t believe it. And I remember my girlfriend, she saw me totally devastated. But it’s good to be back. Damn good to be back. It really broke my heart

If the developers bear a responsibility, all problems are mainly due to the hasty exit of the shareholders and the wrong decisions of the management. Today, thanks to Netflix, Cyberpunk 2077 is reborn from its ashes, a resounding return that allows it to perform better than The Witcher 3.
