At the end of 2020, the developers of Age of Empires 4 announced a new update. While they don’t reveal any great new details about the game itself, their statements leave one Release in 2021 seem quite likely.
State of the development of AoE 4
It is already playable: The team explains that they already play Age of Empires 4 internally every day. Because most of the work on the individual building blocks such as AI, economic system, rendering and the like has already been completed. All these separately developed elements have also already been brought together.
What is still to be done? The focus at the moment is primarily on polishing, balancing adjustments and the correction of errors. The developer also states that they are already moving towards the release at “full speed”.
What the game will look like, showed the team in November 2019 with a short trailer that already presented some gameplay scenes. In them you can see, among other things, that it will go back to the Middle Ages.
