Dante from Devil May Cry returns from hell with pretty good news: a release date for a return that promises to be just as stylish as Capcom’s legendary franchise.
Apparently too busy killing demons on his own since the release of Devil May Cry 5 five years ago, Dante has recently been brought back into the spotlight through another medium. It’s precisely this return that’s set the tone, and finally reveals a release date. Jackpot?
Devil May Cry will soon be back in business
Last month, Dante, Vergil and the others were somewhat orphaned, while Hideaki Itsuno, the historical director of the license, announced that he was leaving Capcom after 30 years of good and loyal service. However, Hell does not seem to have swallowed all the hopes of fans who hope that a sixth work will one day appear. Until then, Dante has a new demon-slaying in style for us on Netflix. During Geeked Week 2023, the SVOD platform finally unveiled an animated series called Devil May Cry, which has apparently been in the works for years. As a reminder, the license was already entitled to a twelve-episode animated series in 2007.
Geeked Week 2024 ended this week and we were able to see, above all, a new trailer for this adaptation. The opportunity to see Dante in action with the class that characterizes him and a high level animation to match, provided by the Mir studio and produced by Adi Shankar (Captain Laserhawk). It seems that this series is set somewhere after Devil May Cry 3 in the franchise’s timeline, with a rather young and fiery son of Sparda. “Pizza on the Jackpot,” the trailer ends with a date: April 2025.
See you in a few months to find Dante on Netflix and hope that Capcom has not forgotten this emblematic license either, possibly with Devil May Cry 6 in the more or less distant future. However, the Japanese studio is currently very busy with Monster Hunter Wilds and many Resident Evil games to follow.
