Gaming News Diablo 4: 5 changes that can bring you back to Blizzard’s video game. Season 4 is the biggest update since the official release!
Diablo 4 Season 4 launches on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series on May 14th and brings a number of significant changes. The changes made were so significant that teams were forced to set up their own server to test them. For most of them, they are also permanent in nature: be aware that they are not seasonal and will remain in place even afterward. In summary, Diablo 4 is changing forever, starting with Season 4 titled “Loot Revitalized.” In our opinion, there are five changes that can change players’ experience since its release in June last year.
Faster leveling no matter which third of the world you choose
Diablo 4 was released worldwide on June 6, 2023 and little has changed in the experience system since then. When creating the character, the player is asked which third between 1 and 2 they would like to play in. Third World 2 is more difficult, but grants 20% more experience. At level 45, the player can then choose to complete the Cathedral of Light: a boundary stone dungeon that provides access to world level 3. The latter grants more experience as well as the opportunity to encounter sacred and powerful objects. The same applies to Third World 4, unlockable from level 70.
To access levels 3 and 4, which are more interesting because of the high quality equipment, you had to first go through level 1 or 2. The first level was chosen more often because the time wasted eliminating stronger monsters was not worth the experience gain. Likewise, reaching level 100 could quickly mean a path of the cross. With Season 4, Blizzard has decided to increase the experience gains granted by World Tiers as follows:
- Stage I : Unchanged.
- Stage II : Goes from 20% to 50%.
- Stage III : Goes from 100% to 150%.
- Stage IV : Goes from 200% to 250%.
While it remains to be seen how this will impact gameplay, it’s safe to assume that leveling up will no longer be a difficult task. Players who are curious to see the content reserved for the end of the game without investing too much time in leveling up might therefore be attracted.
Legendaries galore
The aspect system, the legendary powers that can be incorporated into other weapons, has also been revised. While this is probably the least important change on this list, it still deserves to be included.
Prior to Season 4, the aspect system required careful consideration before it could be used. The aspects were then divided into two parts: those assigned by specific dungeons that could be endlessly injected into weapons. You can also restore the legendary aspect of an item you have obtained to put it on another piece of equipment once per aspect extracted. Since it was impossible to know when we would get our hands on this or that legendary power, we had to store it carefully or rely on the piece to which we wanted to attribute it.
From season 4 onwards, things change
As you extract aspects of legendary items, they are stored in your Power Codex and can be used indefinitely. Instead of taking up space in your inven tory, the Aspect’s most powerful extraction is stored in the Power Codex and can be used as many times as you like.
More readable additions that promise better understanding
This is probably the change that players have been waiting for the most in this Season 4: the affix system, these additional stats and the equipment have been changed to be clearer. Each item has a maximum of 3 affixes (the legendary, two on the rare), which are easier to understand. Blizzard decided to replace these at conditional values (the studio takes the example of “+10% damage to uninjured elites”) with simple increases in health or movement speed.
But don’t panic! This complexity remains thanks to a new creation system, which is explained later in the article.
We would simply like to return to one important consequence of this revision. Fewer affixes per item means fewer possible combinations of affixes and therefore fewer items to collect. However, this suggests better player involvement in loot acquisition.. In addition, it can probably help beginners see things more clearly, as they sometimes feel like they are drowning in the abundance of equipment.
A revised customization system with tempering and improvement
An item rework that seems to appeal to all types of players. As already mentioned, the previous change is undoubtedly aimed at making equipment statistics more understandable for newcomers. Secondly: If you want a little more depth, you can use the temperature control functionality. Enough to tamper with your newly acquired loot with affixes to make them stronger.
As you explore and complete various activities, you collect tempering guides. Each of these guides contains a small number of affixes, divided into six different categories: Weapons, Attack, Defense, Mobility, Attributes, and Resources. All you then have to do is temper your equipment at the blacksmith to give it the affix you want. A much easier way to adapt your equipment to this or that synergy.
In addition to the improvement, tempering is one of the mechanics that will remain permanent in Diablo 4.

The upgrade improves the overall power of all of your weapon’s affixes, and every 4 levels one of the equipped affixes improves significantly. The affix that receives the improvement turns blue. If the same affix is updated again it will turn yellow and in rare cases it will turn orange if it is updated a third time.
Enough for die-hard players to set a new goal, especially since this fourth season also adds new supposedly difficult content.
The Fireworks Pit: Real Endgame Content?
The fireworks pit, right The pit in English, Diablo 3 will appeal to fans as it reminds us how the higher bugs work. The goal is to kill enough monsters within a 10 minute time limit, with a big boss at the end. An activity that can be carried out alone or with four players and allows you to obtain many important resources: Stygian Stones can summon Tormented Echoes (variants of already existing bosses); Materials for improvement see below; and as always, equipment.
This pit is activated once a level 46 (World Tier 4) Nightmare dungeon has been completed. Each trial in the Pit requires Rune Shards, which are collected through high-level activities. The Pit can really transform Diablo 4 by presenting it as high-frequency, replayable, high-level content. There are 200 floors in this pit, each one more challenging than the last. In the “Discussion by the fire“, organized by the developers of Diablo 4, they clarified that level 100 is comparable to level 25 of the Zir slaughterhouse.
On paper, the fireworks pit can be a more than interesting high-level activity with waves of enemies that are very difficult to fend off, and therefore an additional source of motivation when looking for the perfect equipment.
In short, this fourth season of Diablo 4 promises greater clarity in the customization of its objects while presenting an increasingly demanding challenge for the most experienced players. It is all the more worth engaging with because it risks becoming the playground for Vessel of the Hatred, the first expansion for Diablo 4. This is planned for the end of the year.
