Game News Diablo 4 is a huge success and the numbers confirm this, even if players are shouting their disillusionment on the Internet

Diablo 150 (million)
The success story of a controversial game never ends! After grossing over $666 million upon release (what a coincidence!), Diablo IV continues to line Blizzard’s coffers 15 months after its release.
In fact, the senior product manager Diablo IV Harrison Froeschke recently announced on his (now deleted) LinkedIn account that the title’s revenue since its release has exceeded one billion dollars, including microtransactions.
To elaborate, microtransactions alone brought in more than 150 million (15% in total), which is colossal, and even more when you know the aversion the term microtransaction can generate among gamers. Of course, this figure takes into account everything related to virtual currency, including game store offers, promotions and other personalized discounts.

Diablo IV has long been criticized for its excessive and, above all, very expensive microtransactions. For example, we saw a Portal skin pack for $30, which is clearly overpriced for a simple cosmetic change. Players didn’t fail to express their dissatisfaction:
This policy seems to apply to all Blizzard titles. This is the case for other games, for example World of Warcraft or HearthStone. Some even call it Blizzard’s Call of Dutyzation, a technique that clearly seems to work in the modern video game landscape, despite all the history and debacles we experienced in the late 2010s Star Wars: Battlefront II.
Unfortunately, these types of economic results pose a risk that this type of practice will continue in the industry…
As a reminder, Diablo IV is available for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and Xbox One.
