Blizzard announced today that Diablo 4, officially released today, is the studio’s fastest-selling game ever.
The game had the highest sales of pre-release units on consoles and PC.
In the four days since it opened early access on June 1, Diablo 4 has played 93 million hours, or over 10,000 years, or 24 hours a day since the dawn of civilization.
“The Diablo IV team is years in the making,” said Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson. “We’re extremely proud to offer players the richest story in a Diablo game.
“Since the game’s initial release in 2019, the support of millions of players around the world has prompted us to release our dark vision for Sanctuary. Hail to Lilith, Our Lady.”
Set 50 years after the events of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, the game opens with Lilith being summoned back to the mortal world. The land is full of terrifying creatures, and only you can defend against the chaotic menace.
The game features a vast world that you can explore as one of five classes, and you can choose how you want to progress and develop your skills. The lands of Sanctuary are diverse, featuring different biomes and demonic beasts in five areas and over 120 dungeons. There are also many side quests.
After completing the main storyline, you can explore end-game events to venture further and become even more powerful. You can participate in regular Helltide, delve into Nightmare Dungeons, use the updated Paragon Board system, accept bounties in Whispers of the Undead, and battle other players in Hatelands, which designated venue.
It doesn’t end there, as various seasons and expansions offering new game features, questlines, characters, challenges, and legendary loot are on the way.
