Diablo 4 is almost an MMO. As you roam its open world, you randomly encounter other players, some quests are basically “kill ten of that thing”, there are dedicated PvP areas, etc. But perhaps its most MMO-like quality is that it really wants you to show off your cool gear to other players.
That’s always been a thing in Diablo. This time around, however, real money store deals can make a lot of money.
While there’s obviously a greater emphasis on appearance in Diablo 4, in all the different areas you can customize characters that didn’t exist before, it’s worth noting that you get Some Cosmetics drop just by playing the game.
Once you get into the endgame of Diablo IV, Helltide Events will be an important part of your gear grind. They also have a chance to drop cosmetics when finished. As a pinnacle endgame event, it makes sense that it has a chance to drop cosmetics.
However, you may not know that Treasure Goblins can also drop cosmetics. Treasure Goblins are the mainstay of Diablo. You’ll know when they’re nearby, thanks to their distinctive gurgling sound, and you’ll see an unmistakable icon on your minimap.
Treasure goblins are not easy to kill and will never stop running away from you second They found you. They’ve been known to often make you run into enemies while chasing them, but they’re always worth the risk. Treasure Goblins, as the name suggests, carry bags of loot and gold, so killing them is a surefire way to get the sweet drop.
In Diablo 4, those sweet drops can also include cosmetics. So far, players have reported only earning mounts, and mount-related cosmetics such as armor and trophies. There were several Reddit posts that surprised players.
I’ve only received one nice horse from a treasure goblin myself, but I hope the loot pool isn’t limited to just mounts.
Oddly enough, the makeup comes off with a white label. So if you make a habit of skipping white items in favor of rarer loot, you might actually miss out on some cosmetic drops. We recommend changing the behavior of Alt (item display) so you don’t miss anything. For more helpful tips, there are plenty in our great Diablo 4 guide.
