The doorbell rings – and Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred is here. Well, almost. Fans officially have to wait until October 8th for the release of the first extensive add-on for Blizzard’s successful action role-playing game.
However, the test embargo for Vessel of Hatred has already been lifted today, so our tester and Diablo expert Peter can now give you a comprehensive assessment of the expansion. One of your most important questions about the addon is not only whether Vessel of Hatred is any good, but also whether how long you have been working on the expansion.
So that you can fill out your vacation applications or prepare to take out your yellow ticket, we don’t want to beat around the bush for long, but rather tell you how much playing time you need to plan for Vessel of Hatred.
How much playing time is in Vessel of Hatred?
According to our tester Peter, who was able to play through Vessel of Hatred from start to finish, You can estimate around 15 hours for the main story of the Diablo expansion alone. If you take a few side quests with you, you can add another five hours.
If you are a completion fanatic and really want to complete all the dungeons, fortresses and collecting tasks in the new Nahantu area, then Vessel of Hatred will keep you busy for a good 30 hours.

Problems in the last few meters
The add-on plays pretty well for almost the entire length of the story. The new Spiritborn class, the dense atmosphere and presentation as well as mechanically cool innovations in items and in the endgame should delight Diablo fans.
However, the story runs out of steam in the last few meters. In the last third of Vessel of Hatred there are a series of pointless tasks that require you to run back and forth and go from one cave to the other. Our tester Peter thinks it could definitely be tighter.
After the story ends, the main quest continues with annoying tasks that are intended to prepare for the endgame of Diablo 4. For this you should allow another three to four annoying hours.
So that you are well prepared for your journey into the hateful jungles of Nahantu, in addition to the test, we have already prepared a whole series of comprehensive guides that will make your life as a demon hunter easier. With our guides you will not only find the best builds right at the start of Vessel of Hatred; you’ll also get to the endgame in no time.
