Grinding Gear Games is working hard to make Path of Exile 2 a sequel that all hack-and-slash fans will agree with, and has some new announcements to make.
The release of Path of Exile 2 is getting closer and closer, to the delight of fans of the excellent first work, but also to attract new fans. To make our mouths water, Grinding Gear Games presents us with the gameplay of a class that has been fundamentally revised from the start. But this good news is accompanied by other, less encouraging but understandable news. Speaking of the first work: The next expansion will come with some nice content!
The Ranger returns in Path of Exile 2, better than ever
Grinding Gear Games wants to make Path of Exile 2 the most complete hack’n slash to satisfy all fans of this fascinating genre. The studio is preparing 12 starting classes, two for each combination of the main traits of strength, dexterity and intelligence. So the Ranger class, which focuses on skill and intelligence, showed us all the strings they have in their magical quiver.
It was already present in the first Path of Exile and has undergone a nice rework that is anything but trivial. It’s actually able to move while shooting, something we’ve almost never seen in a hack ‘n slash. In addition, the Ranger will have a nice arsenal of abilities that should make him a class that is as agile as it is deadly. See instead!
Unfortunately, the New Zealand studio’s ambitions for Path of Exile 2 come at a price. Although a beta release was supposed to have happened in June, it was unfortunately postponed to later in the year without further details. In his place will be an Alpha, obviously much more closed. A blessing in disguise that allows the game to be as refined as possible if it can get into the hands of players who can’t wait to try it out. We wish the team in this great company all the best!
The first work takes you to the grave to wait
Fortunately, fans of the franchise won’t be bored until then, because the first work will also be entitled to new content. This will take the form of an expansion with a very evocative name: Necropolis, expected on March 29th for PC, Mac and consoles. The dead spirits in Wraeclast are angry and make it clear by tormenting the world’s monsters to sow chaos. It’s up to us to bring them back to where they came from. For this purpose we can use the services of the gravedigger. Thanks to the Lantern of Arimor that he provides us, we can capture these spirits. From a purely gameplay perspective, this will allow us to return its spirits to a tomb in exchange for powerful treasures. Depending on the ghosts captured, we can go in search of the best possible loot.
The Necropolis expansion is also an opportunity for Path of Exile to welcome new difficulty levels into the endgame, with maps that can go up to level 17. New bosses and monsters will join the celebrations. Finally, the Scarabs endgame system is undergoing a major overhaul to include even more original and difficult content and associated rewards. This is great content while you wait for its worthy successor, or even a Season 4, which on paper is very promising for Diablo 4.
