diablo immortal Players find themselves in game debt after purchasing orbs from third-party sites.
As discovered by PCGamesN, players report that they will be left with huge in-game debt after purchasing the Eternal Orb, one of Diablo Immortal’s main currencies, through a third-party website. The orbs are said to have been revoked by Blizzard, possibly because the orbs cost real-world money.
A number of different posts on Diablo Immortal’s subreddit are stating that they have a large number of orbs in the game to make up for what they don’t pay for in the game. 60 spheres are available for £0.89, and 7200 spheres go up to £89.99. And one article states that a third-party site is selling 7,200 spheres for as little as about £8.69 ($10).
Some players’ accounts are said to have also been banned, although it doesn’t appear to be all of them. One post noted that it appears that players with negative ball counts cannot perform group activities such as joining parties, dungeons or rifts.
Reddit user paleblood explained that about half of the clan members reported orb debt, but did say that everyone in the clan, including themselves, “agreed we all deserve it,” but also pointed out that if the orb wasn’t that expensive, then things are likely not to happen.
Diablo Immortal caused quite a bit of controversy at launch due to in-game microtransactions, with estimates that just fully leveling up a character could cost over $100,000.
snowstorm Tried to play down the criticism, saying that the “vast majority” of players didn’t actually spend the money, even though the $100 million the game made in its first eight weeks suggests that doesn’t matter.
