Gaming News Diablo Immortal: release date, free to play, PC and mobile… We take stock of the Lost Ark competitor
No pun intended, Diablo Immortal is a game that truly comes back from the dead. Hated by the public at BlizzCon 2018 – then by netizens around the world – Blizzard’s free-to-play has slowly but surely managed to win over players thanks to its increasingly compelling testing phases. Its economic model no longer seems to overshadow it either. Do you want to know everything about the new Hack’n’Slash game? Follow the leader ! Here is the information about it.
WHAT IS DIABLO IMMORTAL? WHAT IS THE RELEASE DATE?
We start with the most important: Diablo Immortal will be available on June 2nd, 2022 for iOS, Android and PC (originally in open beta for this last support). Pretty surprising information in itself. Announced in 2018, the new installment in the famous Hack’n’Slash series was initially only intended for a mobile release before announcing its arrival on PC a few days ago. And we understand Blizzard’s decision. The smartphone as a support and the free-to-play model had sparked the anger of the gamers when the game was presented in 2018. A choice that, however, does not seem to diminish the publisher’s ambitions. Wyatt Cheng, the project’s creative director, calls Immortal the “biggest and most ambitious Diablo game ever made.”
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PC AND MOBILE VERSIONS?
Well, concretely there is no real difference between the PC and mobile versions of Diablo Immortal. Even on your computer, therefore, it will be a game intended for mobile support, created to offer short but intense gaming sessions with an interface designed for iOS and Android. You will find the same content and graphics. On the PC, however, it is possible to use the keyboard-mouse combination and, in a second step, the controller, as is the case with smartphones. Finally, one more important detail: The game is cross-progression and cross-play. In other words, you can play on your computer at home in peace before you go and pick up your mobile game from where you left off.
WHAT HAS CHANGED COMPARED TO A CLASSIC DIABLO?
Of course, with the choice between mobile and free-to-play, Diablo Immortal makes some adjustments to the basic formula. Especially with regard to Gameplay, ici “arcade”, bringing the game closer to Diablo III than Diablo II. The touchscreen now allows for more directed attacks than before, with the arrival of a cone to aim. But no worry. Many previews are reminiscent of technical phases of action. The loot (a plethora of objects that we pick up in a video game) is of course part of the game and offers the possibility to customize your character to your liking. All in all, you have to take care of your approach in the Immortal universe, where you can only advance with a good level in the main story. Not to mention anything free-to-play related, which we’ll cover later in this article.
WHAT IS THE CONTENT? IS THERE A MAIN ADVENTURE?
Aside from rifts (derived from Diablo III), dungeons, side quests, and a whole host of events, The main adventure remains the backbone of Diablo Immortal. This includes eight areas, each of which, according to Wyatt Cheng and game designer Joe Grubb, will take about “30 minutes” the first time, they explain. Once you have completed the main missions of an area, new activities such as faults or dungeons will appear. The idea is to explore these new locations to improve your level and complete the rest of the story. What is there to pick. Ideal for cell phones.
WHAT IS THE DIABLO IMMORTAL SCENARIO?
Story-wise, Diablo Immortal takes place between the events of Diablo II and Diablo III. Players will also be joined by Deckard Cain, a character well known to fans. Help Welcome: After the death of the Diablo entity and its minions the stone world is destroyed in a thousand pieces. And, of course, this event unleashes both old and new threats. The player must therefore find these fragments before the world of Sanctuary is mocked off the map. Enough to face legendary foes like the Skeleton King and new faces like Skarn along the way. A very nice program!
HOW MANY CLASSES ARE THERE IN THE GAME?
Launching June 2nd on PC and mobile Diablo Immortal will initially contain six classes, namely: the witch, the monk, the barbarian, the crusader – a warrior who can wield magic -, the demon hunter and the necromancer. Blizzard plans to add more over time. Above all, the big news in this installment is that it is now possible to switch classes on the go without losing your progress. What to do in witch form before becoming a crusader, for example. Good news to enable experiments. Note: Each class has its own skill tree.
A FREE-TO-PLAY OR PAY-TO-WIN GAME?
Obviously, with the free-to-play model, Diablo Immortal includes a store where the player can spend real money and access various bonuses. After various previews, This aspect will not unduly affect your progress, at least not if you just want to enjoy the main adventure and its side activities. For those who want to go further, like unlocking the most powerful builds, it will probably be a different matter. Because the shop allows in particular to buy keys to open the previously mentioned errors. Here are of course the most powerful items. And the same in the paid version of the Battle Pass. So the game has a bit of a pay-to-win flair in the PvP phases.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO PLAY MULTIPLAYER IN DIABLO IMMORTAL?
We just talked about: Diablo Immortal will give pride of place to PvP Thanks to the Sanctuary, a sacred place where the Shadow faction must ensure that immortality status does not fall into the wrong hands. Aside from going at first sight, there’s also a raid system called The Infernal Reliquary that can accommodate up to eight players in cooperation, at least for now. Because let’s not forget, Blizzard often presents its game as an MMO and it must be said that Westmarch, the central hub of Diablo Immortal where it is possible to meet other users, clearly suggests this. Fans have the choice to exchange items, including gems that can grant various bonuses, but no gear. A healthier way of acquiring in-game currency, on the sidelines of the shop where you have to spend real money.
