Blizzard has published a new blog post on Diablo IV, which is extensively devoted to character creation. It becomes clear: Your protagonist will be more individual than ever in the new part of the long-running action RPG series!
In the second quarter, Blizzard Entertainment published a development update for Diablo IV and commented on a specific topic in a detailed blog entry. This time, the fans are particularly likely to see the numerous innovations and extensive work in terms of character design.
Detached from the actual process, it is emphasized that you can design your character in the new action RPG part as individual as never before. You no longer just pick a class and go; rather, you can design the respective class in terms of optics according to your taste.
There are various options available to you, so that in addition to skin color you can also choose your hairstyle, facial hair, tattoos, body colors and even accessories such as piercings. The whole system is so pronounced that Blizzard itself speaks of a “revolutionization” compared to the earlier parts. The character you play should be completely unique without straying too far from the core identity of the respective class. Even pieces of armor can be displayed in a wide variety of colors and colored by you.
Art Director Jon Mueller says: “There will be a completely new customization system for your characters for Diablo. That was technically quite difficult. After all, these customizations had to work not only for one character, but also for hundreds of pieces of armor, various body types, dozens of personalities and last but not least for (first of all) five different classes. It was all new territory for our team. “
Due to this new system, the cutscenes in the game will in future also be displayed and rendered in the game engine, so that the peculiarities of your characters also come into their own.
The detailed blog post goes into many more details, shows associated image material and also addresses the creation of various monsters and opponents, for example the blood bishop, the skeleton prince or the succubus. The integration of new technologies such as PBR (= physically based rendering) is also taken up.
