The new Diablo expansion was actually supposed to start tonight at 1 a.m., but as is often the case, something went wrong and the start was significantly delayed.
Anyone who stayed up extra late to get started with Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred at 1 a.m. could crawl straight into bed because the launch went wrong. In a later statement it was said that a small technical problem had crept in, but that it apparently took several hours to resolve.
The servers continued to run as they were before the expansion for a while, but at some point the logins were blocked and the servers were kicked out by the players. Unsightly: if you had already carried out a pre-load, you now have to download an update of around 40GB. Blessed is the one who has a quick line.
After all, since shortly after 6 a.m. the servers have finally been available, as has the expansion, and now it remains to be seen whether things are running smoothly or whether further problems have crept in.
Based on the comments on On the Xbox it is said to have helped some to activate the extension via “Manage game” and add-ons, whereupon a mini download of 10MB unlocks the extension. For others, a complete reinstallation of the game including the expansion is said to have solved the problem. Others are apparently still looking down the tubes.
Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred provides you with, among other things, a new playable class and an expansion of the game’s campaign. At the same time, the new season starts with an extensive update, which, among other things, completely changes the character and paragon system and brings with it further innovations.
