Well, you’ve read the headline. Were you affected by the issues with the Early Access patch that saw some PS5 Star Wars Outlaws players end up being forced to start a new game or risk being stranded in space? If so, you may have received an email from Ubisoft by now, offering you some compensation… well… it’s not nothing.

As you may have read on this fine site yesterday, some players who invested in early access to the game on PS5 (it launches on August 30 to regular non-Funky Special Edition players) were eventually advised by Ubisoft to start a new save after patch 1.000.002 was deployed on the platform, in order to avoid issues with save files originally made on older versions of the game.

Ubisoft warned potentially affected players in an email that “if you continue to use a previous save, you will unfortunately experience issues and progression blocks,” and now, Ubisoft has sent a follow-up email outlining its plans to compensate players who have been forced to go back to square one.

“We fully acknowledge that asking you to start a new game isn’t the best experience, especially during Early Access, and we apologize for that,” the publisher wrote in an update. “To make your return to the Outer Rim even more special, we’ll be giving you an in-game Trailblazer charm as well as 100 Ubisoft Connect Units (for example, to redeem in-game rewards). We’re actively working to add the Ubisoft Connect Units to your account so you can use them as soon as possible, and you’ll be able to claim the charm from the delivery box behind your Trailblazer once you reach Toshara. We appreciate your patience and hope you enjoy the game.”

So, you get a small trinket to decorate your Trailblazer with and 100 Ubisoft Connect Units. The latter are basically loyalty points for the Ubisoft Store, which you normally earn every time you make a purchase through it or upgrade your Ubisoft account by completing Ubisoft Connect Challenges. I don’t know about you, but this vaguely reminds me of some “accidentally hit the wrong menu button in Assassin’s Creed” memory.

Affected players on Reddit weren’t exactly thrilled with the rewards, but were at least glad to see the publisher make an effort to offer some sort of compensation for the inconvenience.

If you’re waiting until the regular launch day to dive into Outlaws for the first time, be sure to read our review of the game.
