After initial successes in this direction, Capcom has recently emphasized that it wants to bring back even more classic game brands in the future. The first names have now appeared.
We reported back in mid-October that Capcom was rediscovering old game brands. In a financial report, the plan was reaffirmed to revive a number of classics and to make a comeback. So it seems to be getting serious.
As has now become known, Capcom has in the meantime really presented itself to the competent authority in Japan in order to have various trademarks for previous game brands renewed. As Chizai Watch reports, corresponding entries have been made for Dino Crisis, Darkstalkers and Bionic Commando, among others.
Even then we had hopes for new branches of Dino Crisis and Darkstalkers – it is quite possible that this will now pick up speed. Mega Man and Power Stone should also be among the re-registered trademarks.
This has not yet confirmed that Capcom is actually working on new parts of these brands, some of which have been neglected for many years, but at least the chances are increasing. Most recently, the company celebrated tremendous success with the comprehensive remake of Resident Evil 2 and has meanwhile also announced a new edition of Resident Evil 3.
