It was expected that one of the most beautiful games of the moment would not run perfectly on the PS5 Pro, which unfortunately is confirmed in a more official way.
After extensive handling and in-depth analysis of the PS5 Pro, experts at Digital Foundry predicted that Sony’s new console will have to make some compromises in certain areas. According to them, Alan Wake 2, one of the most beautiful games currently on the market, is likely to pay the price. Remedy has published an official comparison in this regard and Digital Foundry’s predictions have unfortunately been confirmed.
Alan Wake 2 shakes up the PS5 Pro
In a particularly detailed blog article, Remedy presents all the work done by the developers of its in-house Northlight engine to optimally exploit the capabilities of the PS5 Pro on Alan Wake 2. The studio is particularly complimentary of PSSR, the upscaling technology that uses machine learning, is equivalent to NVIDIA’s DLSS and is exclusive to the console.
However, in order to display the game in all its glory in quality mode with Ray Tracing, Alan Wake 2 had to make concessions on the PS5 Pro, despite significantly improved technical data compared to the base PS5. In fact, Remedy failed to balance quality and performance, as Mark Cerny had promised during the official presentation of the console. In this scenario, the game runs at only 30 frames per second. However, the game’s performance mode benefits from significant improvements. For more details on the differences between the two modes compared to the base PS5, see an excerpt hereBlog post shared by Remedy, quoted in the source below and translated from English by us.
