It seems that Microsoft will not buy Discord after all.
According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Discord Even if the company has multiple offers, including one reportedly from Microsoft, it will not sell.
A source told the Wall Street Journal that the company is discussing a “potential initial public offering.” However, according to the report, the dialogue with Microsoft may resume in the future.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the company “attracted interest from at least three companies in the transaction,” but the service performed well and the company plans to remain independent for the foreseeable future.
As early as March, there were two different reports stating that the company was seeking a sale and had “exclusive acquisition discussions” with a company whose main competitor was Microsoft.
Discord is operated by a private company with more than 140 million monthly active users.
