Attention fans of Marvel and Star Wars fans: According to a report by TheHollywoodReporter Disney Plus is changing its release pattern for new series. And that has a direct impact on upcoming TV series for the streaming service, such as season 3 of The Mandalorian, the spin-off from Boba Fett, Ms. Marvel or Moon Knight.

What fans of Star Wars & Marvel need to consider

Wednesday is the new Friday: As announced before the release of the current MCU series Loki, “Wednesday will be the new Friday”. This means that upcoming TV series for Disney Plus and their new episodes will not start on Fridays, as was almost always the case, but on Wednesdays.

Disney and Marvel Studios released the video back in May 2021:

Loki and Netflix are “to blame”: According to THR, the decisive factor is the decisive success of Loki. The Marvel series around Tom Hiddleston broke records and turned out to be the most successful premiere of a new Disney Plus project to date.

In addition, according to the report, Disney wants to avoid Netflix, which usually release new TV series on Fridays – usually one season at a time. This would ensure that Disney Plus and Netflix do not fight for their viewers at peak times.

Series only, no films affected: The change only affects TV series that start after The Bad Batch. New films that are produced for Disney Plus or land on it – such as most recently Raya and the Last Dragon or Cruella – are excluded from this release change.

Official confirmation is pending: Disney Plus users should note that this change has not yet been officially confirmed for Disney Plus. TheHollywoodReporter is one of the most reliable entertainment portals, but users should be patient for an official statement.
