Among the Marvel series, there are some that are clearly divided. This is especially true for She-Hulk, who has had difficulty convincing a portion of the public. And it inevitably makes you immediately nervous.
Although the She-Hulk series brought a breath of fresh air to the MCU, the emphasis was on humor with a unique blend of situational comedy and well-written dialogue. Bad luck, the series was destroyed by critics and viewers elsewhere. The success wasn’t really there and the result didn’t take long to arrive. Although She Hulk introduces new (and old) characters, it’s a very bad start for the sequel. Marvel and Disney+ are a bit cautious.
One less Marvel series on Disney+
The Direct tells us that Tatiana Maslany, the series’ lead actress, has expressed her doubts about producing a second season, citing in particular a large overrun of the budget allocated by Disney as the main reason. “ I don’t think that will happen. I think we went over budget and Disney said no, thanks“, She said.
The budget comment isn’t really surprising when you see the countless CGI elements on screen. Not to mention, the show itself pokes fun at its limitations in certain episodes. However, many are wondering where all those millions of dollars went, as some of the special effects are unsightly and the production isn’t really up to standard. This is also what the series is generally criticized for, as well as its lack of impact. The humor is good, but the series rarely deals with the legal part, which could still have been interesting. And unfortunately it’s not Matt Murdock’s intervention that will save the furniture.
Good old Daredevil gets a bit mistreated here, with a side of him we didn’t know and didn’t necessarily want to explore. A fun, funny daredevil making Marvel-style jokes… the sauce didn’t really taste good. Hoping there is more in his personal series, Reborn daredevil. The Disney+ series echo proved to us that it’s possible to portray certain aspects of the MCU in a realistic, dark and dramatic way, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed.
