news culture Disney+: The first Marvel series of phase 5 finally has a release date!
Marvel’s Phase 5 Season 1 is finally here! Secret Invasion is coming to Disney+ soon.
The Marvel’s Secret Invasion series page has been updated on Disney+. She reveals the release date and it’s official, production will land on June 21, 2023. We will find Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) ready to save the world in full invasion of Skrull, a race of shapeshifting aliens. He is joined by Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman) and James Rhodes (Don Cheadle). Actress Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen in Games of Throne) has also joined the cast for an undisclosed role. Ben Mendelsohn will once again play the role of Talos, General Skrull. He was last seen in Spider-Man: Far From Home, where he portrayed the former director of SHIELD.
One of the great innovations of this Marvel production is its chronology, explains Kevin Feige (President of Marvel Studios): “Secret Invasion will take place during the ‘Blip’ when half the universe was decimated by Thanos, and the events will examine those in that time happened”. Feige clarifies that unlike “Snap” (in Avengers Infinity War), which corresponds to Thanos’ finger snapping, The blip takes place between this gesture and the resurrection of Earth’s heroes by the Hulk (in Endgame).
A complicated schedule for Marvel
Originally scheduled for May, Secret Invasion suffered from Marvel’s scheduling issues and was pushed back to June. This isn’t the only production to be delayed, with season 2 of What if pushed back to 2024. Several rumors have suggested that the comics giant could also be postponing the Echo and Ironheart series. In another update, Disney+ changed Loki Season 2’s release window from “Summer 2023” to “Coming Soon”. For some, this is a sign that the release date has also been turned on its head. However, Owen Wilson, one of the show’s actors, mentioned a September 2023 arrival.
