Nintendo has released the second wave of new and improved tracks for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass. As a result, one of the best tracks in the series has finally arrived. No, it’s not DK Mountain or Maple Treeway. This is Waluigi Pinball.
Wave 2 of the Booster Course Pass introduces two new cups, each with four new tracks. The Turnip Cup includes the New York Minute (Tour), Mario Circuit 3 (SNES), Kalamari Desert (N64) and Waluigi Pinball (DS) circuits.
Meanwhile, the Propeller Cup includes Sydney Sprint (Tour), Snow (GBA), Mushroom Canyon (Wii) and a new map, Sky-High Sundae.
We’ve also seen classics like Coconut Mall and Choco Mountain return in Wave 1. So, it was a treat to see remakes of Waluigi Pinball, Mushroom Gorge, and even the Calamari Desert.
Who doesn’t want to race around a giant pinball machine? Waluigi Pinball feels like a modest mess with minimal frustration since I can’t fall as often as Rainbow Road. The remastered track is gorgeous, as you’d expect, and it’s always nice to see Waluigi getting the recognition he deserves.
As for the new track, Sky-High Sundae, it will never live up to the Rainbow Road legacy, but it does feel just as challenging. You might want to pay extra attention to this corner because I don’t have one!
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass is £22.49 or $24.99. This is a one-time payment, and you get access to each wave of new courses as they are released. However, for those with a Nintendo Switch Online+ expansion pack membership, these classes are already available.
