News culture Do you feel like you’ve seen this scene somewhere before? Yes, the movie Madame Web actually lifted this scene from another Marvel movie without us noticing.
Given the disgraceful reviews it received from the press and its score on Rotten Tomatoes below Morbius, Madame Web is undoubtedly a very underrated film. The plot, the acting, and even the action scenes are all there, and one particular scene lasting a few seconds really went down badly with audiences.
One scene in particular
In fact, when it is released on February 14, 2024, the film Madame Web The film, directed by SJ Clarkson, was the victim of a flood of negative reviews on the Internet. Social networks, websites, everyone has talked about it, unfortunately in a bad way.

However, there is one particular scene that made most of us film fans shudder. The scene in question was discovered very quickly by some, more slowly by others, and it was from a different production! It’s exactly the same plan as an MCU movie released 20 years ago. A picture, or rather a video, is worth a thousand words.
I just finished watching Madame Web out of boredom and during the final montage I immediately noticed that they inserted a shot from Spider-Man…

Uh, yeah! This is actually a scene from Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 2 from 2004. Technically, the camera angle is slightly different. The brightness is not the same, and the speed has been changed. After all, the role of devil’s advocate will not have prevented viewers from noticing this striking resemblance. It is easy to read a few unfavorable sentences about the director’s laziness on social networks and in reviews. Although this transition scene was probably more of an allusion than laziness (the film is set in 2003), unfortunately the audience did not agree.
What happened ?
Poorly done action scenes, particularly bad expository dialogue and a bad script… In short, what happened? Madame Webwhich was highly anticipated, only 11% on Rotten Tomatoes and 3.9/10 on IMDb? Where did the $80 million budget go? Who is ultimately to blame? In reality, the creation of the work was not the easiest. Originally there were two screenwriters: Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. Then Dakota Johnson, the lead actress in the film, was cast. She liked the script, she said in a interview made after the release of Madame WebHowever, the same scenario was revised by Claire Parker. The American actress and model really did not expect such changes.
We discover the biggest problem in the same interview with Dakota Johnson. She states that the work has nothing to do with the script that she read at the beginning of its creation. Was the script considered bad towards the end of production? Did it ultimately not match what the studio wanted? We understand that the working conditions were really very bad. The film went through too many different phases without even having a stable and fully finished script.
This rewriting not only misled the actors involved, but also led to so-called “reshoots”. When a film has been shot and is in the editing phase, we decide to reshoot scenes: these are therefore called reshoots/re-shoots. With a rewritten script, re-shot scenes, changes requested by the studio… That’s a lot and that is probably why the film did not perform as well as expected. All of these problems undoubtedly contributed to this poor reception by the general public.
