The three original parts of the Age-of-Empires series were rated very well by many players in their time, both in terms of their playful qualities and because of their appearance. GameStar also always praised the graphics in the test reports and gave it the top grade every time.
The forthcoming fourth part, on the other hand, is often judged very negatively, especially with regard to the optics. In a survey we wanted to know how you like the graphics of the latest AoE game.

How do you like the graphics of Age of Empires 4?
The result of the survey shows that when it comes to graphics, Age of Empires 4 will probably not be able to match the great praise of the previous parts, even in the GameStar community. Overall, however, you are comparatively mildly judging the game.
Only a little more than 21 percent think that the game looks “bad” or even “very bad”, while just over 45 percent rate the graphics as “good” or “very good”. In the end, about a third of you think the optics are “mediocre”.

The question of how important graphics are for a computer game in general and for a real-time strategy title like Age of Empires 4 in particular is another matter. As in the case of assessing the optics, this is a very subjective question.
