Six years after the end of Dragon Ball Super With Dragon Ball Daima, a new anime from Akira Toriyama’s universe is coming to our screens. After the events of the Boo arc, we follow the adventures of Goku and his friends, who have become children again at the request of the new Demon King, who does not want to be bothered by them.
Due to its place in the Dragon Ball timeline, Many fans wondered if Daima was making Super inconsistentor even made it no longer canon, as was the case with GT. From the first episode, some have relied on this element to prove it, but things are simpler than one imagines.

A contradiction between Daima and Super?
In the first episode of Dragon Ball Daima, our heroes gather to celebrate Trunks’ birthday. At one point, Goku asks the Eastern Kaiô Shin and Kibito how they managed to cancel their fusion after the events of the Boo arc. Kibito then explains that they asked Boo to record them and it worked. It appears that Boo’s body produces a strange gas that negates the effects of the fusion. This explains how Vegetto once disappeared into Boo’s body. An element that was not planned, as the Kaiô Shin of the East and Kibito had warned Goku that the fusion is usually permanent and cannot be reversed, even by divine beings.
The problem is this Dragon Ball Super taught us during the Black Goku/Zamasu arc that the Potara fusion is not permanent unless Kaio Shin is involved, and that it only lasts an hour. Because of this, Vegetto Blue ultimately disappears against Zamasu. For some, Dragon Ball Daima would therefore contradict Super’s explanation, which proves that the two cannot be canon and that Daima would replace Super. But in reality the two explanations complement each other perfectly.
Explanations that complement each other!
In reality, Daima’s explanation only helps to understand why the merger was canceled and how Kibito and the Eastern Kaio Shin became themselves again. If we start over, This means that the Potara Fusion is permanent when a Kaio Shin is involved, but only lasts an hour when performed between mortals only. On the other hand, the gas produced by Boo’s body allows this fusion to be canceled although it happens for a reason unknown to our characters.
So, Daima and Super’s explanations do not contradict each other, but in fact complement each other. It cannot be concluded from this that one of the works will replace another, at least as long as we do not have official confirmation from the rights holders.
