Eldon Ring Full of surprises. Whether it’s a seemingly innocent dying maiden sneaking debuffs on you, an intruder cheese that works amazingly, or just the absolute body of a giant crab popping out of nowhere, from softwareThe latest news never stopped the conspiracy.
If you progress a little in the game, you’ll know that dogs are a big deal – they pop up often and can easily cost you a lot of runes if you’re not careful. Sure, they’re not hard to dispatch…but they can be annoying if you’re not ready.
One of the most surprising things we’ve learned over the past week since the game’s release is the effectiveness of the Exorcist Torch. Not only is this item used to light up caves or set fire to more flammable enemies you might encounter in The Lands Between, but it can also be used to ward off dogs or even drive them away.
The seemingly harmless item apparently exudes a “special incense” that “pacifies the beast”. In the clip embedded below, courtesy of the ever-innovating r/EldenRing subreddit, you can see that this item can hold back a drooling canine and turn it into a hapless puppy that’s easy to herd.
Torch’s effectiveness doesn’t stop with dogs, no; it also applies to mice, slugs, and other creatures in the rich fauna of Elden Ring’s doomed world (yes, even “T-Rex Dogs”). Note that, for some reason, birds are immune to Smelly Incense’s rotten charm. Alas, as one Redditor pointed out in a comment, “this doesn’t work on rune bears, you’ve been warned”. We appreciate this user’s sacrifice in the name of science.
See how effective this fiery, torch-handling method of animal control is in the clip below:
