Fans of CD Projekt Red may want to prepare themselves for The Witcher 4, as it’s the developer’s most advanced title at the moment.
CD Projekt Red has its hands full these days. The sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t in production yet, but it’s already in the works (with some big-name productions). The developer is also working on a couple of Witcher games, like Project Sirius and Project Canis Majoris, both of which have been keeping a low profile so far. But the big one everyone’s waiting for is Polaris, aka The Witcher 4, which should be in production later this year. With all these projects underway, there are obviously questions about which ones get priority, and according to Pawel Sasko, the director of the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, The Witcher 4 is undoubtedly CD Projekt Red’s next focus.
Sasko recently appeared on the Flow Games podcast, where he explained that most of the studio’s projects are in “early stages.” To me, that means “yeah, they’re coming, but we’re not going to show anything for a while,” so I’m going to be patient with them. However, Sasko did reiterate that The Witcher 4 should be in full production soon, saying, “The only difference is Project Polaris, which is the new Witcher saga, is going into production. It’s the most advanced of all of them.” This isn’t really all that surprising, as back in May CD Projekt Red provided an update on how many of its employees were working on various projects, with a total of 407 team members working on either Polaris or The Witcher 4 as of the end of April 2024.

Interestingly, Sasco also noted that The Molasses Flood, the team behind the aforementioned Project Sirius (which didn’t seem to be going well), is directly developing a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 at his new Boston-based studio. All in all, it sounds like you’ll have to wait a while before you see concrete news from CD Projekt Red about any of its projects, so I hope you’ve already made plans to replay Cyberpunk or The Witcher 3.
