During this period ID@Xbox Digital Showcase Yesterday, Microsoft showed off some indie games coming to the cloud, consoles, and PC.
The company showed 20 in total, and we picked out some Xbox indie games that we thought were pretty interesting.
one of them is power of myth From Beamdog, we’ve told you about it before. The game, which looks like a Saturday morning cartoon from the 1980s, is a roguelike adventure featuring four-player online co-op. Set in the ever-changing Cursed Lands of Eldes, after you’ve assembled your party and collected your weapons, it’s time to get out and kill some enemies.
Play as a cartoon hero and level up as you explore dungeons, discover magical artifacts, and level up. During the game, you will acquire legendary weapons and use powerful magic to destroy hordes of enemies. The game is replayable, as each attempt to beat the dungeon will be different, and you’ll discover different treasures, traps, and horrors each time you play.
“MythForce” will be released on Xbox Series X/S on September 12. It will also release on PC and PlayStation the same day, and is coming to Switch soon.
A sequel to Videocult’s Rain World is out now, titled Rain World: Downpour. This pretty fun-looking survival platformer puts you in the role of a nomadic slug in a broken ecosystem. With your trusty spear in hand, you’ll brave industrial waste and scavenge for food to survive. Be careful, though, because there are creatures larger than you also looking for food, and they might eat you in the process.
Slugs have evolved since the first game, and so have some monsters. Five new slugs are traveling through this vast and ancient civilization, all driven by curiosity, vengeance, hunger and other emotions in search of the truth about themselves.
Rainworld: Downpour is out now on Xbox, PC, PlayStation and Switch.
Another interesting title is Scarlet Deer Inn It’s described as an embroidered narrative platformer.
In it, you’ll meet an intriguing cast of characters, venture into dark, monster-filled dungeons, and interact with branching dialogue that leads to optional backstory and bonus locations. The game is a unique blend of adventure and platformer, with embroidered character frames and hand-painted backgrounds inspired by the Studio Ghibli films.
Set in medieval Europe and filled with Slavic folklore, the game tells the story of Elise, a mother of two. She’s not exactly extraordinary, but the setting will let her explore places full of interesting and unusual, as well as dark and scary.
No release date has been confirmed yet, but it will also be coming to Steam and Switch.
sea of stars is another game you should keep an eye on. We played the demo during Steam Next Fest and had a blast. While it won’t be available until August 29, you can still try out the PC demo, which is now also available for Xbox.
This turn-based RPG is heavily inspired by the genre’s classics, and you’ll see it when you play. It reminded us of so many games we’ve played in the past, it’s hard to decide which one it reminds us the most. The game tells the story of two children of the solstice who combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform eclipse magic. This is the only power that can stand against the monsters created by the evil alchemist “Fleshman”.
The demo features areas that will be part of the final game, but one bonus is that it doesn’t reveal any major spoilers for the main story. It’s designed just to provide some background information and showcase some of the game’s systems and mechanics around dungeon crawling and combat.
Star Ocean, a prequel story set in the Messenger universe, was developed by indie studio Sabotage and raised funding on Kickstarter in 2020, going live on the crowdfunding site less than seven hours after launch. The game is also coming to PlayStation and Switch.
Other games we revealed during the ID@Xbox Showcase, you can read the list over at Xbox Wire.
