Pablo Schreiber, the actor who plays the live-action version of Master Chief in the film halo series, if there are some options for those who don’t like helmetless Spartans.
Earlier this month we received the first full trailer for Halo Season 2, and while it certainly looks pretty atmospheric so far, it’s also been met with some criticism – one of the top posts on the Halo subreddit One pointed out the fact that the Chief was not wearing a helmet for much of the trailer, putting Schreiber’s chin on full display. He’s a handsome man, so I get that, but apparently one of the things Halo fans love most about Master Chief is his iconic green suit. The removal of the helmet was also a point of criticism in the first season, but in Schrieber’s opinion, if you don’t like that fact, you don’t like the show at all.

Schreiber told SFX Magazine (via GamesRadar), “Those who don’t see the need to take off their helmets are still in the early stages of their conception of the show. To examine the differences, the character two versions of [Chief and John-117], you can’t tell the story without taking off your helmet. If you don’t agree with helmets coming off on the show, then you don’t like our show. So, there is no point in discussing this. ”
It’s a fair point – film and TV do have the benefit of capturing facial performances better than games can, even though motion capture technology is pretty impressive now, so with the right actors you can certainly get some good results with emotions scope! But hey, maybe people just didn’t like Schreiber’s performance, and that’s a whole different argument. Regardless, it looks like Halo Season 2 will indeed feature the eponymous ring and will air on Paramount Plus on February 8.
