All MultiVersus players may have noticed that some features are missing, but Player First Games plans to restore them.
Last week, after a year-long hiatus, MultiVersus finally launched in full, and it was met with mixed feedback. Our own Dom was split on it, even though they enjoyed the core gameplay, while many other players weren’t exactly happy with some of the choices made. Notably, the decision to omit certain features that were present in the game, like match stats, team colors, and several others, was a strange one. The decision to completely shut down MultiVersus for a year was already a controversial one, so returning with fewer features, especially those that are big staples of platform fighting games, obviously feels like a strange decision.

Player First Games is well aware of the feedback, though, as game director Tony Huynh recently acknowledged the missing features on Twitter and said what the future plans are for the game. “Thanks for your feedback! The team is working hard to address it. Some settings and features missing from the public beta are coming soon: team colors, end-of-game stats, swapping faction and neutral attacks, adjustable input buffer settings, and more,” Huynh wrote. “More info coming soon!”

“Many of these features are currently implemented and in testing, and we had them planned but put on hold due to time constraints as we had to rebuild every screen and feature to support our new netcode and UE5 Switch. Thanks again! I hope this background information is helpful.”
Rebuilding with Unreal Engine 5 was the main reason why Player First Games spent a year developing the game and implementing feedback from the beta, so it’s understandable that not everything is ready to go, although it might feel like a strange choice to some.
The MultiVersus revival also brings in some new characters like the Joker, Jason Voorhees, Agent Smith from The Matrix, and Banana Guard from Adventure Time, which is definitely a weird mix of faces.
