If you’re a Final Fantasy fan and you’re worried about what to expect heading into Final Fantasy 14’s Tracks of Dawn expansion, here’s some news – Naoki Yoshida wants you to calm down. That’s because the game’s developers have been busy making extensive preparations to ensure that the server issues with the Tracks of Dawn expansion don’t happen this time around.
Yes, speaking to the media at a preview event for Dawntrail (thanks, GamesRadar), Yoshida addressed fans’ concerns caused by server congestion issues that affected the arrival of Endwalker in 2021.

“We know that after the peak period, we can expect an average of 2,000 or 3,000 players,” Yoshida said, “so from that perspective it doesn’t make sense for us to arrange the boxes to accommodate 10,000 people. Last time it caused a great inconvenience to our players.”
“As we look to the future of Final Fantasy 14 and its expansions,” explains FF14’s producer and director, “we’ve been planning and preparing servers, and they’re ready to go. So now, if we feel the need, we can just push a button to open new servers. I think it’s almost impossible for us to run into a situation where we can’t accommodate the number of players we need.”
Finally, he added that the developers even believe their new server structure will work well and everything will run smoothly, which may give credence to the idea that fewer players will try to play this expansion compared to previous versions. There is certainly no lack of confidence then.
So, instead of having to worry about having to extend your time on Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC because the FF14 servers are technically the equivalent of falling over and dying after being hit by a guy with a big sword – you should be free to embrace life as an image reader without any problems.
