Howling Tides has had a slightly bumpy launch, but some upcoming changes should bring some quality of life improvements to the game.
With Howling Tides only being out for a few days, it’s safe to say it’s not perfect – as evidenced by all of these hilarious visual glitches. But the development team has at least outlined known issues with the game, so fixing them isn’t out of reach. However, for some players, the problem isn’t just about the bugs. The official Howling Tides Twitter account shared some additional updates that are coming to the game based on player feedback so far.

The first is the ability to skip more cutscenes. In a post covering issues with the game and plans for future improvements, the post reads: “We’ve received your feedback on the skip feature, including ‘not enough skippable scenes’, ‘skip button UI design isn’t clear enough’, and ‘main storyline feels lengthy’.” “We plan to optimize your experience by introducing support for skipping all types of scenes in the storyline, as well as the ability to review storyline scripts and cutscenes.”

There are also plans for improvements in combat, and the post goes on to explain that “in response to all the common problems reported by players, including the lack of meaning in combat actions, the lack of visual feedback on the impact of actions, the poor controller combat experience, and environmental objects blocking the line of sight during combat. We plan to make special optimizations for different combat scenarios to enhance the positive feedback of players in the combat experience. In addition, we are also working hard to improve the function support of the controller and speed up the support of custom buttons on the controller.”
Players also seem unhappy with the new player selection meeting, and as an apology, everyone will receive a “Reciprocal Tide Ticket” which “receives a free 5-star Standard Resonator of your choice.” You should be able to receive it in your game mailbox today.
Finally, further improvements are planned for things like “art assets for certain NPCs, a new layered map display feature, and more Echo transformations.” It’s unclear when to expect all of these updates, so for now you’ll have to remain patient.
