The shooter DOOM Eternal recently made the leap to the Nintendo Switch, but the story of the game as far as the platforms are concerned may not be over with that. A VR version may also be available now.
Will you soon be able to enjoy the first-person shooter DOOM Eternal in virtual reality? A new age rating could indicate exactly, although an official announcement is still pending.
A suitable entry has now appeared on the Australian Game Classification Board, which does not have the name DOOM Eternal VR, but provides information. Under the code name “Project 2021A”, there is now an entry that specifically relates to the sub-area “virtual reality” and can be traced back to the developer id Software; Bethesda will act as publisher.
But why DOOM Eternal VR? Quite simply: The reasons for the age classification are the language use or the high-level depiction of violence – in exactly the same way as with the original classification by the authorities of the original DOOM Eternal last year.
As long as a formal announcement is still pending, it is of course still a rumor, but fans can hope that Half-Life: Alyx may get another top-class VR shooter with DOOM Eternal VR. The fact that the DOOM series reboot from 2016 also received a VR version one year after its launch also fits the topic. Now is history repeating itself?
