Although Avengers: Doomsday is going to be the next big meeting of most of Marvel Studios' superheroes (and villains), the film will not feature one of its most important protagonists, even though he will probably be crucial in facing the Doctor Doom.
In an interview with the American media Variety, Benedict Cumberbatch confirmed that it will not appear as Doctor Strange in the next Avengers movie. However, the actor has asked fans to remain calm, as he also confirmed that he will be one of the main protagonists of Secret Wars.
Cumberbatch explained that, after the departure of Jonathan Majors from Marvel Studios, the company had to make significant adjustments to its planning. According to the actor, his character “does not fit with this part of the story”, although he will be a fundamental piece in Secret Warswhere he aims to occupy a prominent place among the protagonists of the film.
On the other hand, the British actor, who has not appeared in the franchise for several years, hinted at the possibility that a third installment of Doctor Strange is being developed. However, he avoided going into details so as not to anger the true sorcerers supreme: Marvel Studios.
