Nowadays, a lot can go wrong even just before a release, but Dragon Age: The Veilguard seems to be in the clear – the game has achieved gold status.
Electronic Arts and Bioware have apparently done well to set the release date for Dragon Age: The Veilguard (formerly Dreadwolf) quite late. This always offers a good chance that there will ultimately be no more unpleasant surprises in the form of postponements.
The calculation seems to have paid off, as Bioware announced the game’s gold status over the weekend. Which in plain English means the game is finished and any physical versions go into production in the pressing plant. Of course, that doesn’t mean that the game won’t continue to be tweaked; we probably won’t be able to do without the now usual Day 1 patch for this game either.
At least that means that the planned release date of October 31st for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S is now on a safe footing, unless an extraordinary disaster occurs.
And it will be exciting. After long years of suffering due to the mediocre Mass Effect: Andromeda and the complete failure Anthem, Bioware is not having an easy time of it and now has to prove that the studio can rise to previous heights. It certainly won’t be easy, the Dragon Age audience is demanding and is still very skeptical about the new title despite good previews and first impressions.
After achieving gold status, we now hope that our test sample will reach us as soon as possible so that we can devote enough time to Dragon Age: The Veilguard before its release for a comprehensive review.
