After a long wait, fans now finally know when they can play Dragon Quest Treasures, an upcoming Dragon Quest spin-off – and the wait isn’t far off. Fans will be playing the spin-off this December.
Dragon Quest Treasure was first announced more than a year ago as part of last year’s Dragon Quest 35th Anniversary Celebration – but like all of these announcements, it was primarily aimed at Japan and only received support from Square Enix West’s branch. Slight approval. Now, the game has a full rollout in the West ahead of its December 9th release, which is just a few months away.
The new spin-off features Erik and Mia, siblings familiar to players of Dragon Quest: Echoes of an Elusive Age. The couple lived on a cool looking Viking longship and ended up being taken to a mysterious land – where they embarked on a new adventure, a huge treasure hunt, just as you As expected from the title of the game.
The trailer shows treasure hunts, fighting alongside monsters, and even riding on them. Monster recruitment is a big part of what you’ll do, but so is collecting treasure and figuring out its worth.
It’s one of three upcoming Dragon Quest releases, each with a slightly different direction. Dragon Quest XII will be the series’ most mature entry to date and its first mainline entry since 2017. Dragon Quest 3 is getting an HD-2D remake in the vein of Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy. Then there’s Treasure, a brand new spin-off with more traditional Dragon Quest powers.
