Nintendo's hybrid console recently received one of its biggest updates to date, 10.0.0. Among other things, it allowed us to reconfigure the button mapping completely to our liking. However, with it came too a side effect that has affected many players.
In Reddit Several posts emerged in which users complained about a new problem that had arisen with this patch, and that had to do with the infamous drifting in Pro Controller. In case you do not know what drifting is, this occurs when the analog stick is unable to correctly return to its neutral point after moving it to one side, causing, for example, our character to continue walking to the left even though we are not touching the joystick.
Something especially annoying, no doubt. The update that came right after did not fix this problem, but luckily, the one now does. Nintendo has just released patch 10.0.2, and as explained in the official notes, this fix the drifting of the Mando Pro.
We have fixed an issue where a Nintendo Switch system with versions 10.0.0 or 10.0.1 did not connect well with a new Pro Controller, sometimes causing incorrect joystick control.
As a result, multiple users in Reddit comment that thanks to the update have stopped experiencing this inconvenience. At least it's been fixed fast. Everything seems to indicate that it only affected new controls that were synchronized for the first time with a console in versions 10.0.0 or 10.0.1.
The Joycon remain the same
Now this only applies to the Pro Controller. If you have a Nintendo Switch, it is highly likely that you have drifted on the Joycon themselves. These controls are the ones that come standard, and have been suffering from such a problem practically since the launch of the console.
It is all too common, but still no final solution has been offered by Nintendo yet. It is clear that here the problem is factory and not software, as was the case with the Pro Controller. A headache for the vast majority of users, especially when playing in portable mode.
