“Dune – Prophecy” tells the prequel to the sci-fi films with Timothée Chalamet. The new trailer for the HBO series explains the rise of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood.
“Dune – Prophecy” takes place 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides, who is played by Timothée Chalamet (“Wonka”) in the two “Dune” films and has so far been the focus of sci-fi history. The prequel series will be about the Harkonnen sisters and the founding of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood, who use their special powers for their machinations.
The previous “Dune” series is based on the novels by Frank Herbert, which the US author has written since the 1960s. After his death in 1986, his son Brian Herbert took over the continuation of the Dune stories. The basis for “Dune – Prophecy” is his 2012 novel “The Throne of the Desert Planet”.
The new trailer for the HBO series tells of the sisterhood’s rise and network and gives viewers a first impression of the founding story. These are additionally accompanied by visually stunning ceremonies and battles. The power of the Bene Gesserit is tied to the influential houses, but the unity of the sisters seems to have the greatest importance, as it is said.
The main roles of “Dune – Prophecy” include Emily Watson (“Chernobyl”) as Valya Harkonnen and Olivia Williams (“The Crown”) as Tula Harkonnen.
In Germany, the HBO series will most likely be shown on the streaming service Wow. There is no exact start date yet, the only thing that is certain is that “Dune – Prophecy” is scheduled to appear in autumn 2024.
If you want to take a closer look at the mysterious sisterhood in the “Dune” films, you can find the first sci-fi epic on the streaming service Netflix. We’ll also tell you where the second “Dune” part will soon be available to stream.
