“Dune: Prophecy” is about the Bene Gesserit, who already appeared in the “Dune” films. With Desmond Hart we get to know an adversary who opposes the sisterhood.
In the prequel series “Dune: Prophecy” we learn even more about the Bene Gesserit sisterhood, who operated in the Empire 10,000 years before the events in the “Dune” films. Since December 18, 2024, you can watch the prequel series on the streaming services Sky and Wow in Germany.
But there is more insight not only into the sisterhood and its individual members, because the possible adversary Desmond Hart also appears in the first episode of “Dune: Prophecy”. His character brings with it some mystery, as he has not yet appeared in the “Dune” books. You can find out why the soldier should not be underestimated.
Desmond Hart vs. Well Gesserit?
The soldier Desmond Hart makes his first appearance when he appears in the imperial palace on Selusa Secundus and tells Emperor Javicco Corrino about his fight for survival. Not only was he the only one to survive an attack on the Empire, but he was also swallowed by a sandworm and remained unharmed.
After his encounter with a sandworm, Desmond appears to have mysteriously been given magical powers. He uses this “magnificent power” to burn the skin of his opponents. These include Pruwet Richese and the fortune teller Kasha in the first episode, which clearly underline his true evil intentions.
The reason for his dislike of House Richese is the attack on the Empire, for which Desmond blames them. He even goes so far as to clearly advise Emperor Javicco Corrino against an alliance through the marriage of Pruwet and his daughter Ynez Corrino in a one-on-one conversation.
From the perspective of the sisterhood, Desmond Hart is actually a bad comrade and villain. By preventing the marriage between the two houses, he also goes against the Bene Gesserit’s political power goals. Because Princess Ynez is an aspiring member of her community and is supposed to further advance her “breeding program”.
It remains to be seen whether the conflict between Bene Gesserit members such as Valya Harkonnen and Desmond Hart will continue to deepen and claim further victims. If you don’t want to miss the remaining episodes of “Dune: Prophecy”, you can watch all six episodes every week until December 23rd on the streaming services Wow and Sky.
