Constant optimization through hard training. This philosophy not only underlies every role-playing game, but also forms the basis for the story of probably the most famous anime and manga of all time. We are of course talking about Dragon Ball!
There are now endless pen and paper role-playing games and established worlds are increasingly becoming the target of clever game designers who knit a functional tabletop role play gameHowever, there is no official implementation of Dragon Ball yet. Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero – Announcement trailer for the new part of the Budokai Tenkaichi series
DB trifft D&D
The rules presented here are a module based on Dungeons & Dragons. Or rather on D&D 5e. Since battles with knights, wizards and druids are usually a little different than the fast-paced martial arts battles from Dragon Ball, the system was fundamentally adapted.
For example, in the Dragon Ball system, there is of course a form of Ki management that goes far beyond the Ki management of a simple monk from Dungeons & Dragons. Ki in Dragon Ball is a type of physical energy that enables energy attacks such as the famous Kamehameha makes it possible in the first place.
In the pen and paper game, each character has a pool of Ki points that they use for techniques or various other actions during a fight. There are also special advantages such as passive damage reduction through high stamina. Basically, you can be as powerful as that some blows from enemies can no longer harm your character at all.
The system covers everything you would expect from Dragon Ball. You decide the species of your character when you create it, whether it is human or perhaps Saiyan, and also which school you belong to. Someone from the turtle school can then fire a Kamehameha.
Since the rule system comes from fans, you can download it completely free of charge. It is currently officially still in beta.
Even more Dragon Ball
Dragon Ball Ascended ist not the first attempt by fansto transform the popular universe of mangaka Akira Toriyama into a usable role-playing system. A rule system based on D&D is also namens DBD&Dwhich is available free of charge on the Internet and has existed for several years.
The big advantage of DBD&D: The system already covers significantly more aspects of the role-playing game and the world. In addition to a basic campaign volume, the team behind it has published expansions, for example around artificial creatures or the film Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
In addition, the PDFs benefit from the fact that they have been visually prepared extremely well and actually look as if they were an official implementation.
