Game news Dying Light 2: the most complete zombie game ever?
Dying Light 2 will be released on all platforms on February 4th and we had the chance to try it out on PC for about 4 hours.
Bigger, more open, more complete?
The plot of Dying Light 2: Stay Human takes place 20 years after the events of the first episode. You play Aiden Caldwell, a little parkour genius who is looking for his little sister in a city littered with infected people. Because in Dying Light 2 everyone is carrier of a virus, but not all are infected, which will be important for the future and especially for the day / night cycle, which is back in this episode. In fact, exposure to penumbra lowers your immunity and so you will need to find sources of UV light or undergo treatments that are supposed to boost your immunity a little. Dying Light 2 therefore retains its two-tier gameplay, which differs depending on whether you play day or night. In the first case, the infected are less numerous on the streets, in the second they invade the city.
The advantage is that certain points of interest become much more accessible. Techland’s desire, therefore, appears to be to increase interest in both options. On the gameplay side, the game solidifies the basics of the first game. You will therefore always find this very organic parkour system that allows you to run and hang absolutely anywhere in the decor. THECombat, mostly close-range combat, retains its visceral approach and when combined with parkour, if you take the time to master it, allows for some pretty spectacular combos. Also note that the Parasail appears in the game.
Techland also seems to have made it big when it comes to storytelling. More quests, more PnJ, more multiple-choice dialogues … the already generous content of Dying Light initially appears almost meager in name compared to the content that is offered on our 4 hours of playtime, it remains to be seen whether that is The whole thing lasts. the road over time, which should be the case in cooperation, as it is possible to travel the game world with up to 4 players. Incidentally, Techland seems to have chosen to put your choices at the center of the story, as they can even shape the morphology of the open world. Dying Light 2 is bigger and more complete and has to keep its promises over time, but it looks like the direction Techland is taking is very encouraging.
