With the Supersonic Nural, Dyson has given its popular Supersonic Professional hairdryer a smart upgrade. Here we explain to you how the two models differ.
- The Supersonic Nural has new, additional sensors that automatically adjust the temperature of the airflow depending on the distance to the head.
- It can also automatically recognize attachments, save styling settings and automatically pause when you lie down.
- The Supersonic Professional has an airflow that is three times as high as the newer model.
In addition to its wide range of household appliances such as vacuum cleaners, fans and air purifiers, Dyson also has a lot to say in the field of hair styling. The company is particularly known here for its hair dryers. Here we would like to show you the differences between two popular hair dryers from the manufacturer. This is how the Dyson Supersonic Professional and the Supersonic Nural differ.
Size and weight
When it comes to size and weight, the Dyson Supersonic Professional and the Supersonic Nural are practically identical. Both models are 245 millimeters high, 97 millimeters long and 78 millimeters wide and weigh around 650 grams. So you don’t have to worry that one of the two models won’t fit in your closet or is too heavy.
Functionality and performance
The Dyson hairdryers are also largely similar in terms of functionality. Both models come with three power and four heat levels as well as a cold level, each of which can be adjusted individually. However, the Supersonic Professional comes with a much higher maximum airflow of 41 liters per second, while the Supersonic Nural only has 13.3 liters per second.
However, the power of the two hair dryers is the same at 1,600 watts, and both models come with an automatic temperature check that measures the temperature of the air flow 40 times per second and readjusts it if necessary so as not to exceed the set temperature and thus damage the hair and scalp to prevent.
But the Supersonic Nural can do even more. The device comes with a transparent front under which there are additional, smart sensors – the Supersonic Professional does not have these. Thanks to these sensors, the device can measure the distance to the head in the appropriate mode and thereby automatically adjust the temperature so that an optimal target temperature of 55°C is maintained on the scalp.
In addition, the Supersonic Nural recognizes which attachment is currently attached and can save the styling settings for the respective attachment and adjust them automatically as soon as this attachment is used again. The device also has motion sensors that detect when the hairdryer is put down. Then the heating element is automatically switched off and the air flow is reduced. The Supersonic Professional cannot do all of this.
Scope of delivery and attachments
Both models include five styling attachments each. However, the individual essays differ to some extent. Both the Dyson Supersonic Professional and Supersonic Nural come with a diffuser, a flyaway attachment and a soft airflow attachment. There is also a styling nozzle on both models, but the Supersonic Professional is the improved professional nozzle. Both models also come with a comb attachment, but this is also improved in the Supersonic Professional.
Price and availability
The Dyson Supersonic Professional is available directly from Dyson for 449 dollars. There you can also get the Dyson Supersonic Nural, which costs 499 dollars.
