The Game Developers Conference (GDC) is a great conference when it comes to the video game genre, This will take place in San Francisco from March 16 to 20, but several of the headliners such as EA, PlayStation and Kojima Productions are leaving the ship. If you continue at this rate all the greats of the conference will end up limiting your performance in this edition.
EA has confirmed that it will not officially participate in this GDC 2020 and that it will continue to restrict non-essential travel because of the Coronavirus outbreak.
EA's last statement was as follows:
«After closely following the global situation with the Coronavirus and with the recent escalation of cases in new regions, we have decided to take additional measures to protect the well-being of our employees, in which we include the restriction of all non-essential trips. As a result, we are also canceling our official participation in the GDC and limiting attendance to other events. We will continue to monitor the situation and adjust the guidelines followed as we deem appropriate «
This decision It has been leaked for the first time thanks to LinkedIn from one of EA's advertising development specialist Alex Sherer. In which he quotes the following:
«I just received news from the company, and EA will limit our presence in GDC, canceling our participation in the official GDC events, and all EA employees have been advised not to travel to San Francisco for the conference»
A very good decision on the part of these large companies, thus ensuring the safety of their workers.
It seems that because of the recent escalation of the Coronavirus this year we will be left with some events and presentations of video games somewhat scarcer. Hopefully the situation improves and we do not miss any of our favorite events because of this new disease.
