After Monster Hunter World also had great success internationally, it was probably only a matter of time before another big fish worked on an AAA project with a similar playstyle. EA has now announced a project that sounds a lot like such a title.
For this, the publisher works with the studio Koei Tecmo, which is best known for its Dynasty Warrior game series.
It wasn’t that long ago that Monster Hunter was on everyone’s lips: the Sunbreak expansion for MH: Rise was released at the end of June and set player records on Steam. You can see the trailer for the addon here:

What we know so far
As Electronic Arts announced in a press release, the publisher is working with Koei Tecmo on one Action RPG hunting game based on a fantasy interpretation of feudal Japan.
The title does not yet have an official name, but there is already a first concept art to see:
A small settlement can be seen in the picture, the center of which is dominated by a Japanese cherry blossom. There is also a building that winds around the trunk with different floors.
Of particular interest in the press release is the statement by Jeff Gamon, General Manager of EA Partners:
she [Koei Tecmo] have revolutionized the hunting genre, combining their proven talent for immersive combat systems and gameplay with unexpected and innovative game mechanics.
The featured artwork, emphasis on combat gameplay and an action RPG doesn’t sound like a realistic hunting game with a gun and a german shepherd. A Monster Hunter-like approach is much more likely.
The mysterious game may not be the only major Monster Hunter clone to appear in the distant future. Microsoft is also said to be working on a similar title:
