It’s back on the slopes. EA Sports and Codemasters have announced the latest installment in the racing game series, EA Sports F1 23. The old consoles are no longer there this year.
You can press the pedals again. With EA Sports F1 23, the next part of the long-standing racing game series from Codemasters and now EA will be released on June 16th. The new part is now appearing for the first time only for PC via EA App, Steam and Epic Games Store and the new consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Thanks to the new partnership, the cover star is Max Verstappen for the digital Champions Edition.
Included are all teams, drivers and circuits for the 2023 season, including the Las Vegas Grand Prix and the Losail International Circuit in Qatar. In addition to the new routes, there are also some oldies with Paul Ricard (France), Shanghai (China) and Portimão (Portugal).
It is pleasing that the story mode Braking Point is back on board. You follow the careers of young upstart Aiden Jackson and protagonist Devon Butler, who are now teammates on the Konnersport Racing Team. There should be new characters, new rivalries and challenges.
The announcement states: “The handling of F1 23 has been improved compared to last season, allowing for more predictable behavior. The new car physics give the cars better traction when braking, accelerating and cornering. By incorporating the feedback of the F1 team, a better balance is achieved between aerodynamics and tire grip, resulting in a more realistic driving experience. Improvements in engine torque and inertia also mean that the throttle control is more authentic and offers a greater connection to the car. Alongside these improvements, there is the Precision Drive -Controller technology gives the pad player more control and security in the crucial moments of the race.”
Furthermore, you get a new 35 percent race distance as a compromise between short and long races. Red flags appear as a new strategic element. Also new is the F1 World Hub with content based on the real race calendar. This includes different racing modes, a new progression system as well as car upgrades, new liveries, racing suits and helmets.
The Digital Exclusive F1 23 Champions Edition includes Las Vegas Limited Time Content, Max Verstappen Race Wear Pack, Braking Point 2 Icons and Vanity Item Pack, Dual Entitlement, Four New My Team Icons, an XP Boost, F1 World Bumper Pack, 18,000 PitCoin and three days of early access starting June 13th. A physical and digital Standard Edition featuring EA SPORTS Ambassador Charles Leclerc alongside Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris will be available for pre-order starting June 16, along with the F1 World Starter Pack and 5000 PitCoin.
