After there have already been some rumors and leaks about EA’s upcoming football title this week, things are moving on, this time with a cover star and a presentation date.
Update:
Seems like the leaks weren’t all that wrong. EA has just published the cover photo of EA Sports FC 24 via Twitter and indeed, Erling Haaland, Manchester City’s goal machine, is the center of attention, surrounded by a whole range of other players. Apart from that, there are also three German players on board. Football legend Rudi Völler will be there, as will star player Alexandra Popp and BVB youngster Youssoufa Moukoko.
The date for the presentation of the game was just given later by press release. Accordingly, EA shows the FIFA successor with a new name Thursday, July 13 at 6:30 p.m. as part of a live stream event on YouTube.
And to bridge the waiting time, there is also a first announcement trailer in which all the cover stars play a role:

There is currently no shortage of leaks about the FIFA successor. As is well known, EA has rid itself of the FIFA license and is now starting with the newly named EA Sports FC, the first part of which is to be released in autumn. There were plenty of rumors and leaks, both with regard to the release date (September 29th) and Early Access (September 22nd with the Ultimate Edition) as well as a possible beta phase.
But that’s not the end of the story, because now reports about the cover star of the game and the possible announcement date are making the rounds. Let’s start with the personal details. After Kylian Mbappe was the last permanent candidate for the place on the packaging, he will apparently be replaced this year. According to current reports, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland will be on the cover after his extraordinary year under Pep Guardiola.
He is supposed to be the sole star on the cover of the Standard Edition. On the Ultimate Edition, he will be joined by around 30 other male and female kickers, including Vinicius Jr., Sam Kerr, Zinedine Zidane, Pele, Johan Cruyff and Son Heung-min. So it’s not just about current stars, but also former athletes.
There have been rumors about a presentation of the game in mid-July for a long time, but the current leaks now give July 13th as a specific date for the first public presentation and announcement of the new game. The pre-order phase will start on the same day. If all of this is correct, we will soon find out what the successor to FIFA is all about and whether/what EA came up with for it.
