EA Sports continues to work on license packages for its new football series EA Sports FC and has now been able to conclude a multi-year partnership with CONMEBOL.
Electronic Arts and CONMEBOL, the world’s oldest continental governing body and the governing body of South American football, today announced a multi-year partnership extension. As part of this, EA Sports will be the exclusive sports video game partner of the South American football competitions, which will only be playable in EA Sports FC – and not in a possible new competitive game from FIFA or from Konami.
The subject of the extended cooperation are the competitions CONMEBOL Libertadores (aka the South American Champions League), the CONMEBOL Sudamericana, the CONMEBOL Recopa and the CONMEBOL eLibertardores.
David Jackson, VP Brand at EA Sports FC, comments euphorically on the new deal: “Absolute authenticity is at the heart of the EA Sports FC gaming experience. Our extended partnership with CONMEBOL celebrates South American football on a global level. Our association partners play one instrumental in building an innovative and evolving football platform for fans around the world. We are delighted that CONMEBOL shares our vision for the future of football with EA Sports FC.”
The next installment in the now standalone EA Soccer series will again offer access to more than 19,000 fully licensed professionals, 700 teams and 30 leagues.
