Electronic Arts Announces Release Date EA Sports PGA Tour Today, mark your calendars for March 24th.
The game will be the exclusive home of all four majors in men’s golf. These are the US Open, Masters, PGA Championship and British Open.
Additionally, the game released Road to the Masters, which includes Augusta National, Challenges, Tournaments, and Masters-related gear. Further details on on-field service offerings throughout the 2023 PGA Tour and LPGA Tour seasons will be announced.
A video released today alongside the announcement showcases the Pure Strike shooting system. It gives you all the tools you need to tackle your courses like a pro. It also ensures that the unique swing and attributes of a professional golfer are accurately reflected in the game. Expect fluid swing mechanics down to backswing length, follow speed, ball behavior and realistic course dynamics.
The PGA Tour has 30 courses such as Augusta National Golf Club, Pebble Beach Golf Course, South Hills Country Club, St. Andrews Links Old Course, Torrey Pines, Evian-les-Bains and many more. It will also include past major majors for 2021 and 2022 and new major majors for 2023 after launch.
It also has an RPG-like progression system called Path of the Master. As your golf game improves, so does your goal of being a major champion. You can create and customize your golfer, develop skills and master 20 shot types on each course as you progress through the game. You’ll be able to compete to become a Grand Slam champion and compete in events such as the FedExCup and top amateur events.
The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) will allow you to compete in the Amundi Evian Championship and have the opportunity to compete as several female athletes, or create your own female golfer using the overhauled Create-A-Player system. Iona Stephen will join the commentary team as the game’s first female pitch commentator.
To bring the lessons to life, developers built the game using EA’s Frostbite engine and used drone technology, helicopters and LiDAR scanner-equipped planes to map the terrain. Because of this, you can expect classes to appear just like they would in real life. Photogrammetry and scanners were also used to create renderings of clubhouses, vegetation, bridges, tee markings, rock formations and other course elements.
The PGA Tour also features ShotLink, the game’s proprietary real-time scoring system, and insights from TrackMan, the world leader in 3D ball flight measurement and swing analysis,
The game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via the EA App, Steam and Epic Games Store.
Pre-orders for the PGA Tour go live with the Deluxe Edition, which includes three days of early access and Augusta National. This edition also includes The Players Championship Gear, Grand Slam Gear Set, In-Game Scotty Cameron Putter, 1,500 Senior PGA Tour Points, PGA Tour Experience Pack and Masters Gear.
EA Play members will also get early access to the game during the 10-hour early access starting on March 21. EA Play Pro members will get unlimited access to the Deluxe Edition of the game and the exclusive EA Play Staff Pack starting March 21. All EA Play members will unlock additional rewards for the EA Sports PGA Tour, dropping monthly Pro Shop perks such as Exclusive headgear, shirts, hats and more.
