EA Sports PGA Tour: Huge Title Update 4.0 With New Course & More

huge, PGA, Sports, title, Tour, update

Golf fans can look forward to the release of the title update to version 4.0 today. Among other things, the big patch brings a new playable course to the golf title, but of course even more.

Thanks to the title update 4.0, the current EA Sports PGA Tour gets a new playable course with the Los Angeles Country Club – in line with the US Open Championship taking place this weekend. While you’ll be able to have fun there in all game modes, there will also be updated designs in the style of this competition, as well as new challenges during the Major tournament, in which you can recreate the legendary moments of the day.

Far from seasonal improvements, the update also brings quality-of-life updates and stability improvements, as well as an updated swing meter with optimized clear-sky visibility. For the full list of changes, see the list below:

  • Store and content:
    • New specs are available through weekly quests, weekly tournaments, and seasonal tournaments.
      • Command Series: Improves power and control.
      • Escape Series: Improves accuracy and recovery.
    • New Signature Series specs have been added to the store and will rotate throughout the season:
      • Patrick Cantlay
      • Tony Finau
      • Jessica Korda
      • Lexi Thompson
    • More cosmetic content will be added to the store throughout the week.
  • Gameplay Indicators:
    • New “modern” swing indicator with a seamless design and better visibility in clear skies.
      • A new graphics setting, Swing Meter Style, replaces the Club Trail setting. Options for using legacy swing meter and enabling/disabling club lanes are included.
      • Aim curve has been updated to include an effect/color change if the ball would collide with an obstacle before reaching the apex. This makes it easier to see obvious obstacles such as bunkers directly in front of golfers or trees out of sight.
      • Along with these changes, we’ve also made improvements to the putt line, target curve, and online ball stripes.
  • Gameplay-Physik:
    • Updated course specific ball flight physics. Altitude information has also been added to the course selection screen.
      • On high courses like Banff Springs, the ball typically flies farther and has a slightly flatter trajectory.
  • Other gameplay changes:
    • Short putts by AI golfers have been improved.
  • Online:
    • Golfer reactions in online gameplay have been permanently disabled to speed up the gameplay for everyone.
    • Fixed a soft lock during online gameplay that would occur when the hole timer expired with the Fast Play setting selected.
    • Fixed incorrect order of players on the online table after a person exits or disconnects during a round.
  • Challenges:
    • Fixed an issue that caused spectators to interfere with the first hit on some challenges.
    • Added animation to the challenge banner after hole-in.
  • Golfer:within:
    • Updated Scottie Scheffler’s head model.
    • Dustin Johnson has been updated and now plays with a Taylormade glove.

    • FedEx St. Jude Championship has been updated to use a solid white logo.

    • Fixed an issue that caused duplicate inputs to be recorded on store pages when an error was clicked away with the mouse.
    • Players can no longer access locked challenges by clicking “Select” with the mouse.
    • Various screens and HUD elements have been reworked to scale correctly and better support widescreen monitors.

As part of the US Open, EA Sports PGA Tour can be tried out temporarily for free on consoles; this applies until the end of the tournament on Sunday, June 18th, 2023. Xbox Series X/S owners can participate via Xbox Live Gold via the “Free Play Days” promotion and on PS5 via PlayStation Plus.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, the development team is working on other improvements, including a 60fps performance mode on consoles, additional event duration options for career mode, and turn-based online gameplay.
