Eastward, An absolutely beautiful pixel art adventure game, will be launched next month as a limited-time console exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
The game was developed by Shanghai-based independent developer Pixpil and published by Chucklefish. It is a quirky and retro hybrid style that combines many different genres and blends together in a post-apocalyptic world. It starts for Nintendo Switch September 16, But it is also used on PC and Mac. The release date of these formats has not yet been announced.
“Explore an exquisite and detailed post-apocalyptic world in the East. This is an action-adventure RPG with puzzle-solving and dungeon elements,” the game introduction reads.
“In the near future, in a society that is on the brink of collapse, a hardworking miner named John has discovered a young girl named Sam in a secret underground facility. This unlikely couple will embark on an emotional search for the truth. Journey through a wonderful and bizarre world, exploring bustling towns, curious campgrounds and shady forests.”
Check out the game trailer below.
There is no news about other platforms yet, but given that Nintendo and Chucklefish call this game a “limited time exclusive”, we hope it will enter the PlayStation or Xbox (if not both) views at some point.
Chucklefish seems to have a decline in the comfort and display of the market: it also published Stardew Valley and Risk of Rain, and developed Starbound and Wargroove. Hope Eastward can achieve this level of quality.
Eastward was originally announced in 2018
